What Moves You? – December
December 11, 2024
Spiritual Reflection in THE 222’s Moss Sculpture Garden, with “potluck” dinner following.
(Bring a dish to share as able, but all are welcome to stay for dinner.)
What Moves You? is a contemplative experience of shared spiritual reflection upon a sacred text.
Join us the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. as leaders from different faith traditions within Sonoma County guide us based on the practice of Lectio Divina, or “Divine Reading.” We will hear a sacred text from the leader’s tradition in a contemplative manner, three times through. After each time, we will share responses and insights.
December 11 Presenter:
Jim McCammon grew up in Southern California and early in his life developed a love for music. He began playing Claranet as child and went to Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the University of California to study Music Performance. He played professionally with the Milwaukee Symphony and Ballet Orchestra, while also playing chamber music, and teaching music in schools. After a “dark night of the soul,” he heeded the advice of friends and began attending church – which led to a whole new career as a pastor. He joined the Lutheran Church after experiencing the joy of playing in a raucous polka band. Somehow, beer, Bible Study, and Polka music came together in his ministry. After serving churches in Wisconsin and California, he followed a new calling as an outreach worker to people experiencing homeless. Currently, all of these strands of his professional life are tied together in his work at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where he manages the Shower Ministry and is on staff as a pastor and church musician.
